DS18 Report Finds Better Car Audio Is High on Drivers’ Wish Lists

A vehicle can be a daily commute space, a road-trip companion, or a personal escape—and for many drivers, the soundtrack matters just as much as the destination. DS18’s latest 2026 American Driving Experience Report reveals that car audio is one of the most desired upgrades among U.S. drivers.

Surveying 1,000 respondents, DS18 found that over 90% have stayed in their vehicle longer than planned to finish a song, podcast, or show. That simple habit underscores the role audio plays in everyday driving. When drivers were asked what they would improve about their current vehicle, 26.8% chose the audio system, making it the leading upgrade choice.

The results also show strong interest in aftermarket sound. More than seven in 10 respondents have upgraded their audio, plan to do so, or would consider it in the future. Speakers led the list of preferred upgrades at 46.1%, while others were interested in full-system installations, head units, subwoofers, and amplifiers.

For drivers looking to enhance clarity, volume, bass, and overall listening enjoyment, the data confirms what audio enthusiasts already know: a better system can transform every mile. DS18 offers a wide range of aftermarket audio solutions designed for cars, trucks, motorcycles, boats, and powersports vehicles.
