The release follows Kushy’s Keep It Moving EP on Direct Action Records, which reached No. 18 on Beatport’s Tech House Top 100 Releases chart. It also continues a fast-moving original music campaign that began in 2025 and has already generated more than one million Spotify streams.
Now based in Monterey, California, Kushy grew up in Pennsylvania’s Lehigh Valley and first began experimenting with DJing at approximately 11 years old. Using an $80 mixer in his parents’ basement, he taught himself the fundamentals before launching his own DJ business by eighth grade.
His early performances at weddings, proms and parties helped develop the crowd-reading skills that remain central to his sound. Rather than treating the DJ booth as a one-way platform, Kushy’s approach is built around responding to the room and creating a shared experience.
That connection has helped him grow a worldwide audience, with more than 120,000 monthly Spotify listeners and over 450,000 unique listeners reached during the past 12 months. His music has received support from Louis The Child, SIDEPIECE, Jauz, Wolfgang Gartner, Bingo Players and San Holo, while reposts from Dim Mak, Insomniac Records, Barong Family and Space Yacht have further expanded his reach.
Kushy’s catalog includes the original tracks “Gave It My All,” “I’m Okay” and “Close the Door,” alongside remixes of songs by Fleetwood Mac, Pet Shop Boys, Hall & Oates, Natasha Bedingfield and Sean Paul.
His wider Stay Kushy project brings together his music, live performances, minimalist artwork, exclusive edits and custom visuals influenced by games, animation and pop culture. The concept reflects an artist committed to keeping his work personal while creating moments that resonate with audiences beyond the club.
With its two focused productions, Side Effects offers another clear look at Jason Kushy’s evolving sound and adds further momentum to his growing presence in the tech house space.
